Aphrodites tears

Its been a long time since the Godess of Love Aphrodite went on shore of the island of Cyprus. A lot of nations have been in power since. The ancient Greeks, the Ottomans, the Venecians and the British. All left there traces. But all had one Island to rule.

Now Cyprus is diveded. Nikosia is the only split capital in the world left. Devided between the Turkish Cypriots in the northern part and the Greek Cypriots in the south. A peace mission of the United Nations is guarding the Green Line since the war in the 70 ´s. Rarely people from the north travel to the south and vice versa.

I often encountered people who were curious about the other side and who were convinced they could distinguish between Turkish and Greek Cypriots by their look. But looking at the pictures they were mostly wrong.
